Glass tubing can be heated and blown like a balloon. I usually make hollow pieces from a 'point', a section of tubing on which I have pulled thinner handles which are used to manipulate the larger section of tubing in the middle.

Color or clear decorations can be melted into the glass either before or after blowing the bubble. It's fun but requires practice to keep the hot glass centered and the wall thickness even.
