Lampwork is more like music to me than a graphic art form such as painting.

The glass itself sets the tempo, with the often organic curves and lines developing as the piece cools and hardens.

The challenge is to shape glass to reflect the natural contours and character of my subjects.

I find a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in matching and interpreting these lines to convey a sense of gravity and authenticity... when the glass is worked smoothly it is evidenced in the continuity of form in the finished pieces.

I often try to play variations on a theme, to add a contour or line that expresses a new perspective.
